Artist Experience in the Himalayas

It seems increasingly rare these days that one gets the time to really rest, reflect and be away from emails, social media, flashing skype calls and all other forms of communications that we absorb. The way of the world now revolves around mobiles, ipads, macs, androids, GPS units and various other techy devices. Young kids are more literate on an ipad then their parents and some even find it hard to put down their devices and shut off from the online world.

It is a true rarity for you to be able to escape and really be in the present moment. More and more people are taking up meditation, yoga and running to experience ‘mindfulness’. For me, it is a necessity and extremely important in life!

TfT Travel are now offering mindfulness trips, one being the ‘Artist Experience in the Himalayas’. This trip to the Himalayas enables the traveller to get back enjoying life in its purest form such as practicing a hobby enjoyed in youth. Given the pace of modern life it can be hard to find the time to really sit down and start painting, drawing and sketching.

Tiger Tops Nepal and Tiger Mountain Pokhara lodge offer the perfect backdrop and setting to paint, draw and sketch the mightiest of scenes. Whether it is the wholehearted shapes of a domestic elephant or the luminous colours of a Coppersmith Barbet, the crisp fine peaks of the Himalayas will captivate your imagination and bring your easel to life.

There is an optional add on for a local Nepali artist to paint and sit alongside you during the day. The talented youth will share brush strokes, pencil techniques and shading forms to help improve, develop and inspire your art, their tales of their customs and cultures will enlighten your experience. We will also organise some sightseeing into Kathmandu’s famous temples to understand the history of Nepali art and the future of young local artists. The trips are designed for all levels.

The ‘Artist Experience in the Himalayas’ is a fantastic way to enjoy a week or 10 days in the Indian sub continent and to really see the place in detail, plus you will have the evenings in Asia’s top lodges to share stories, meet other travellers and relax in the comfortable charm of these prestigious properties.
