Brave individuals straight out of university want to jump on a plane, fly to a romantic destination and take the open road by storm to experience the ultimate motorbike trip.

Lush forests of Sri Lanka

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity in the summer of 2012 and was able to drive the West African coast from Ghana up into Europe on a Honda Transalp 600cc raising money for Tiger conservation. My friend and I had done very little planning for the 7000km journey and I still do not quite know how we made it across West Africa and up into Europe. The constant hassle from the locals and the extreme conditions will forever stay in my memory.

Sri Lanka Vs Nepal

  • Sri Lanka’s infrastructure is primary to Nepal. Greater distance and a larger number of destinations can be covered in the same amount of time on this magical rich island.
  • Nepal’s topography means that much of the country is relatively unexplored by the tourist. A real adventurer will have the opportunity to get off the beaten track and into the sticks.
  • Sri Lanka is host to first class wildlife and marine wildlife. A fantastic diversity for those looking to explore land and sea habitats.
  • The Himalayas are the most spectacular and grandest mountain range on earth. Arguably Nepal has the greatest spectacle you can see on this planet.
  • Sri Lanka’s tea plantations make for an unstoppable journey through some national heritage and stunning scenery.
  • The rich colour of Nepal just after the monsoon (October/November) paints the perfect setting for sunrises and more importantly sundowners!
  • The relatively unexplored east coast of Sri Lanka makes rich pickings for picnic spots on pristine sandy beaches.
  • Home to the Bengal Tiger, Nepal fights the ultimate case with an opportunity to explore prime Tiger habitat both at Bardia national Park and Chitwan national park.

Who wants to sit in the rain in a traffic jam inhaling exhaust fumes from the Chelsea Tractor blocking your view when you could be doing this ?
